Aftermath: Recovery, repairs still underway

While it's been a year since Hurricane Ian made landfall, the region is still under repair in many ways. 

In Charlotte, DeSoto and Sarasota counties, there were dozens of people killed in situations directly or indirectly related to the hurricane.

North Port flooding

Large portions of North Port, Sarasota County and DeSoto County were inundated by sheet flooding in the days after Hurricane Ian. Floodwaters from rains north and east of the region flowed down onto the area as Ian ripped across Florida.
