Bass jumping

Usually it’s a bummer when a bass jumps and throws the lure, but sometimes tournament anglers don’t actually want to catch them anyway.

While preparing for the Major League Fishing (MLF) Southern Toyota Series on the Harris chain of lakes, I was able to locate bass in bunches, and sizable ones at that. But when a 25-degree weather change swings in and moves the thermometer the wrong way, expect it make things mighty difficult.

Nothing is better than catching bass on topwater baits — nothing. The excitement that comes with seeing a bass blow that bait up out of the water is absolutely electric. What made it even more fun, if that is possible, is that I was catching them on an artificial frog.
